The NIH Project Management Community (PMC) supports NIH project managers by facilitating free and open communication of tools, techniques, processes, practices, and information for the benefit of the Community and the NIH.
The mission of the PMC is to encourage, support and promote excellence and the use of accepted best practices in all aspects of information technology project and program management in support of the overall NIH mission. This is to be accomplished through expert lectures, meetings, sponsored classes, Internet dialog, social gatherings, and the creation of a motivated community of IT managers at all levels of the NIH.
The purpose of the PMC is to further the use of standards and best practices to achieve increased project success and maximum benefit from funds, staff, and IT resources supporting the NIH mission. The group seeks to enhance NIH project management and facilitate improvements in the current reporting structure. It will promote project management best practices as well as current state-of-the-art concepts and methods. Particular areas of interest include community formation and communication; definition of standard terms, approaches, and artifacts; individual development and career progression; professional education and certification, and improved data collection, retrieval and reporting methodologies.
Membership is focused on NIH project and program managers; however, the organization is open to all IT managers. There is significant benefit to ensuring the senior and mid-level organizational management is aware of the issues and costs associated with less than ideal project management and the benefits of best practice management approaches, techniques, and tools.

The Project Management Community meets on the second Tuesday of every month. Occasionally there are Brown Bag sessions also.
